Indiana State Selected for 2011 Preseason WNIT Field

One season after reaching the semifinals of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in their first season under head coach Teri Moren, the Indiana State women's basketball team will participate in the 2011 Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament.

The 16-team field is highlighted by three top-10 teams, in Baylor, Notre Dame and UCLA, while Akron, Chattanooga, Detroit, Drexel, East Tennessee State, Hartford, Howard, Indiana State, Long Island, Manhattan, McNeese State, Tennessee Tech and UAB wrap up the tournament teams.

The Preseason WNIT features a three-game guarantee format, beginning on November 11 with a first-round game. Second-round games will be played on November 13 and 14, with the semifinals set for November 16 and 17 and the championship game on Sunday, November 20. All games are hosted by participating schools, with a consolation round scheduled for November 18 and 19.

The Sycamores went 16-16 under head coach Moren in her first season in charge, as Moren set the Indiana State record for wins under a rookie head coach. ISU will return four of their five starters from last year's squad, in rising seniors Deja Mattox (9.7 PPG, 3.8 RPG), Brittany Schoen (10.6 PPG, 87 3PTs) and Shannon Thomas (13.1 PPG, 8.6 RPG) and rising junior Taylor Whitley (12.1 PPG, 4.7 APG).

The complete bracket for the Preseason WNIT will be announced in June.
